There are ‘heroes and heroines’ on every street in MN. We often don’t think we’re that heroic! You’ll see. 1. Flat tire and unknown driver in distress. This car is in a downtown church parking lot, but the driver is missing. Up comes another car–the driver sees the very flat tire. A young man jumped out and checked to see if he had a jack and equipment. He did. He removed the flat tire, and brought it down the street for repair–nope had to be replaced. He brought the “new tire” back and was just finishing putting it on when an old pick-up arrived with a damsel in distress, and Dad. The damsel was shocked. “You bought me a tire and put it on?” The good neighbor said, “Yes, you can drive on this one.” She didn’t look rich at all. She did say, “Thank you…” with tears in her eyes. Her Dad looked astounded as the unknown young man (my son) drove off. — Rae

2. He was 100 lbs. overweight and was known as Santa Claus every Christmas. Cancer struck, pancreatic and bladder. “I wouldn’t have given you a snowball’s chance in hell,” one of his doctors stated. He is now cancer free after being given a bare six weeks to live. Prayers went around the world for this “North Pole Guy”. He was given a new chemotherapy drug, often used for breast cancer. He lost 100 lbs, and the cancer, too. His wife had three heart attacks, a lot. She is now well and strong, and chowing down hot dogs at the fair. Today this couple is quick to tell their story of defeating heart trouble with prayer and stents, cancer with prayer and chemo. It was fun to meet Santa at the State Fair in September. He’s looking good, and so is she. JOIN IN THE HAPPINESS. Simply send a PRAISING prayer, too, now with Dan and Karen. I’m gratefully saying, “Thank you for ‘healing all our diseases…’. We know heaven has no disease, and we are healed eventually–believers can relate!–as stated in Psalm 103. Our times are in His hands! ‘Our God Reigns’, lives, heals, loves, decides and takes us to heaven “in His time”–He is LORD! We often say together, “Only speak the Word, and I shall be healed!” We sometimes forget it is God at work in us, to will and to do His good pleasure. Our Christian faith is living, active and timely. See if you can find this Santa this Christmas…his beard is long, white and ready. His smile and Santa suite and strong arms are ready to lift little ones on his lap for a picture. He can hardly wait. I left them by the hot dog stand, sitting on big chunks of rock, by the Senior Center. Foundations secure!

3. Meet Kurt. (True coma story…) Became unconscious for two weeks–stroke victim. Had wanted no tubes. Fortunately signed nothing. Kept alive for two weeks in Sioux Valley Hospital in SD with IV tubes for water and medications. [He did not have a GI tube like Terri Shiavo] He lost some weight. He had diabetes, kidney disease…and after 14 days he ”woke up”! He explained who had visited him, and who didn’t, while he was in a coma–hearing is the last ‘’sense” to go! Then he did just fine for years–even got his driver’s license renewed. Though “strong minded”–a former Vice President of the AFGE–he admitted to having changed his mind about tubes, etc! He said wanted to be kept alive with IV tubes AND have his life sustained, not ended abruptly [in about 8 days] with drugs to make him pain free and incompetent [to eat or drink]. He said to keep him alive for up to a year–strokes take a little longer, sometimes! So he chose a POA after that! Went to his attorney alone and signed that paper. Then he traveled, met new great grandchildren and found he was happily ALIVE–and he did a few things for himself, like make sure he kept his Type II diabetes UNDER CONTROL, DAILY.###
