Letters and Values: ‘RAE HART ANDERSON’… running as a ‘citizen legislator’, not a career politician. “Let’s take turns and not get embedded in strongholds/traps set by power brokers of many kinds. I’m running for the people–and why not?”

Jesus “The Living and Personal Gospel”
‘With conversion, instead, we aim for the high standard of Christian life, we entrust ourselves to the living and personal Gospel, which is Jesus. He is the path we all are called to follow in life, allowing ourselves to be enlightened by His light and supported by His strength that moves our feet. Conversion is not simply a moral decision that corrects the way we live, but it is a choice of faith that draws us fully into intimate communion with the living and concrete person of Jesus. His person is the final goal, He is the deepest meaning of conversion.’
Pope Benedict, General Audience, Ash Wednesday, 2010

Taking on Satveer Chaudhary and his political machine is no easy task. But a competent and credentialed woman has stepped forward. She is Rae Hart Anderson. Rae is an experienced teacher and a licensed nurse practitioner. In other words, Rae is a real person from our neighborhood with wide-ranging life experience and not a slick lifetime politician.
Rae has four children, has provided care and a home for five foster children and an exchange student. As the parent of many, she will know instantly when someone is acting, deceiving or just not shooting straight. She will do the right thing always and big money lobbyists will have a hard time in her office.
Real life experience isn’t just talk with Rae Hart Anderson. She has worked in large health care settings as well as with home health programs for pregnant women with addictions. Her work has included patient advocacy, geriatrics, family practice and women’s health. She has worked as a teacher in corrections.
Considering today’s issues, Rae has the ideal resume for a State Senate candidate.
Rae’s heart is as big as they come. But she stands steely strong when push comes to shove. She will work hard for common sense solutions that protect people while saving money in both health care and education. She is especially interested in transportation as it affects senior citizens, new drivers and stressed out commuters. As a person of values, Rae will strongly support the Constitutional Amendment to protect traditional marriage.
I want to see Rae Hart Anderson on the Senate floor representing Senate District 50. The campaign has barely begun. Frankly, before it is over, I’d like to hear a debate between Chaudhary and Hart Anderson. She’ll take no sass from Chaudhary. She has already won my vote. I’m confident she’ll win yours too.
This is a personal endorsement from Rick Moses for Rae’s 2006 campaign.
—————————————————
One way to look at the upcoming state senate election is to visualize the sudden changes that could take place.
If we elect Rae Hart Anderson, people of faith and values will have a voice again. Suddenly, hunters, gun owners and conservationists will be respected and their concerns taken seriously. Suddenly, teachers will have someone to relate to because Rae is a certified teacher herself. Fixing health care gets a higher priority while benefiting from Rae’s extensive experience in the health care field. Most importantly, people will feel free to call Rae Anderson with their concerns, big or small.
No longer will you have to be a pre-approved friend or part of a select special interest group.
The old slate will be wiped clean. Suddenly, constituent calls, faxes and e-mails will actually be answered. Suddenly, the State Senate Office for District 50 will no longer be about negative power politics.
It will be about the people again. And that’s the way it should be.
This was an endorsement from Jerry Stenoff for Rae’s 2006 campaign.

My recent experience with health care costs caused me to look carefully at the candidacy of Rae Hart Anderson for Senate in our district. She is a determined advocate of health care availability, accessibility and of cost effective outcomes. Prevention and a health safety net are important aspects of changing health care for good. People take priority with this candidate. She listens.
Recently I encountered unexpected and necessary surgery. When my bill arrived I was appalled. There was a room fee for a 10 minute pre-op–it was $240.00. The doctor’s fee there was $200–also for 10 minutes. Next there were seven more people with hands out for money for a short and relatively simple procedure. I noticed the assistant had an assistant.
While I’m thankful for decent coverage, this incident made me acutely aware of health care costs, and the fact that many people don’t have coverage. In fact a friend of mine was turned away when she needed hospitalization for a painful condition. She had no money, no insurance and no job, of course.
Rae will get health care fixed by building consensus within the communities she serves. She’s a nurse practitioner with leadership skills. She will include others with expertise in the area of health care delivery. She is thrifty and accepts no excuses for wastefulness and excesses in health care.
I’ve seen that people are eager to share their personal stories with Rae.
This candidate will pull people together and make health care a priority. I will certainly vote for Hart Anderson, and I urge my neighbors in Columbia Heights, New Brighton, Hilltop, Fridley, Arden Hills, Shoreview and St. Anthony to do the same.
A 2006 endorsement from Judy Stahlberg.

I am writing this letter in support of Rae Anderson’s candidacy for the Senate District 50 seat.
After visiting the Minnesota Family Council’s web site and reviewing Senator Chaudhary’s record of non- support for family issues, I can only conclude that a change of leadership is in order. While I urge you to review this web site for a full accounting of his voting record, a couple issues stood out for me as especially noteworthy. Senator Chaudhary did not support a bill granting parental consent and supervision of minor children’s medical treatment with regard to drug and alcohol treatment, pregnancy or sexually transmitted diseases. Presently, parents cannot access these records or even be notified regarding treatment. He also did not support a bill requiring public and school libraries to use Internet porn filters. Minnesota needs leaders who understand and support family values. I believe Rae Anderson is such a person, and I urge your support for her on Election Day.
This was an endorsement from Darald Hensel for Rae’s 2006 campaign.

Hello Senate District 50:
I serve Senate District 36, and have been at the Senate the entire time your current senator has been representing District 50–all of Arden Hills, New Brighton, Columbia Heights, and Hilltop — also including parts of Fridley, Shoreview and St. Anthony.
The time is now. I am recommending you vote for your candidate Rae Hart Anderson for Minnesota Senate. She has served Minnesota well for over 27 years in health care, in education, in many community leadership roles, in local and district politics and volunteerism. She can lead and she can follow. It is my wish to see her on the Senate floor… She is prepared, experienced and can make the tough choices for your district. You can trust her to be on your side–representing the people and getting the work done for District 50, while protecting families and keeping taxes reasonable–especially for your senior citizens.
… Your current senator missed the Public Safety vote, a $42 million dollar vote to protect our state against Level III Sex Offenders, and more. He consistently voted against issues Minnesota families stand up for. He said no to filters on school computers to protect kids from pornography. He voted to deny parental access to their medical records. He refused to let Minnesotans vote on marriage, between one man and one woman. In my view marriage is an important stablizing factor in our state. I lost my spouse and I do know the value of strong families.
Rae is for you, for your health, for your families and she will respect your values in your community. She was endorsed to run–elect her to serve your district. She is well educated, creative, can laugh at herself and she can quickly see through a new situation. People love to talk to Rae–look at the Anderson lawn signs in your district!
Be assured a vote for Rae Hart Anderson is a vote for your family and your community interests.
With my very best wishes for your district,
- The Honorable Pat Pariseau, Farmington, MN; State Senator District 36
This is an endorsement for Rae from Senator Pat Pariseau, for the 2006 campaign.
=====================================================
2010, Rae is once AGAIN working for the people’s right to be heard and represented:
=====================================================
Rae points out she has family members and friends and trusted colleagues in both parties, in the Independence Party, the Constitution Party, the Green Party–but so far, none she knows of in the American Communist Party. Rae welcomes support from individuals whose values do not change WITH A FINGER TO THE WIND. Since she is running as an independent, running with ‘people support’ only and with absolutely no party dollars, and no lobbyist support and no PAC support and no state subsidy the people will be her boss.
“Elbow grease works,” this candidate states as she shakes another hand and pounds in a sign, with smiles and sincere gratitude. “If I’m elected, you’re my boss,” she says to “all the people” in Senate District 50–not just Republicans, Democrats, Green Party, Socialists, Constitution Party or Independence Party members.
It’s really not nice or effective to fool ‘we the people’ anymore in Minnesota!
Rae followed the rules administered and overseen by the MN Sec’y of State, and was petitioned in to run for the state senate here in SD 50 by over 700 voters from all parties and all seven cities–including those voters with no party affiliation.
Most of those 700+ people, about 600, Rae met personally on their own door step.
Rae had been told by a very few local and vocal, and controlling, 50 Senate District Republicans that if she insisted on mentioning God, 500,000 aborted babies in MN, and said she was for holy marriage–not for same sex marriage, that she would not be endorsed–’it’s the economy, this time”, she was told.
However, she did mention faith and Christian values, oppose abortion and same sex ‘marriage’–pointing out there are legal procedures such as POAs, and contracts that can give personal rights to another person without calling this joint venture a ‘marriage’. Come on Senator Marty, let the people of MN vote on this like 30 + states have done. WE ALL KNOW THE OUTCOME, AND YOU DON’T LIKE WHAT THE PEOPLE WOULD CHOOSE, DO YOU SENATOR MARTY?
FYI: The DFL and the GOP both supported the Loring Park Gay Pride parade with booths and with parade entries, we were told. It is the right of all of us to support what we believe in. This is America.
So some candidates will have to, by necessity, be able to stand alone at the Senate but BOLDLY STAND UP FOR THE RIGHTS OF THE PEOPLE. STATISTICALLY THE MARRIED FAR OUT NUMBER THE SAME GENDER COALITIONs demanding a right to use the word ‘marriage’.
LET’S BE FAIR TO THE MAJORITY FOR A CHANGE, AND NOT CONDEMN THEM AS BEING UNFAIR WHEN THEY faithfully FOLLOW THEIR faith, set in place for many THOUSANDS OF YEARS.
YES, WITH RULES WE CAN PERMIT FREEDOM TO THOSE OF THE MINORITY WHO DECIDE TO SEEK OUT BENEFITS AND COHABITATION. But, HOLY MARRIAGE IS A COVENANT INSTITUTED BY GOD–the state statutes do not rule the heavens and the entire planet. IT IS SPIRITUALLY AND MENTALLY MOST UNHEALTHY TO DENY OUR FAITH AND OUR FUTURE AS CHRISTIANS, JEWS AND MUSLIMS, AND SLIP DOWN A SLIPPERY SLOPE in the name of ‘FAKE FAIRNESS’ TO A MINORITY WITH OPPOSITIONAL VIEW THAT ARE IN DIRECT CONFLICT WITH WELL DEFINED HOLY MARRIAGE, understood AND IN PLACE world wide.
Freedom isn’t free. Faith is possible, but not easy. Stay strong. Take heart!
————————————————————————————
FYI: Senator Chaudhary and Barb Goodwin are said to have gotten 30 to 50 votes to run as DFL candidates in the primary here Aug 10. GOP, New Brighton city council woman, Gina Bauman received a final 99 votes after several miscounted votes led to three re-votes and re-counts. She was selected to run as a Republican BEFORE a meeting of about 110 GOP final voters.
Rae got nine tenacious and friendly votes after she was said to have ignored/defied party ‘suggestions’ by speaking of her foundational values. Rae, somewhat surprised by the strong suggestion not to talk of God and life issues, gave a short speech promoting morals over money, and included an account of her personal faith in Jesus Christ–and she said it was her right to worship God, as well as everyone’s right in America to worship as they choose. “We have the right to “live liberty out loud”, with compassion and boldness.”
Gina Bauman was just elected to a non-partisan role as a New Brighton city council member (1100 votes) for another four year term last November. So perhaps she’s not non-partisan after all, and may leave that eagerly sought office to seek another office in 2010. When some local Republicans were asked if they thought Gina could win the senate seat the answer that came back was not encouraging.
Then RAE DECIDED TO RUN AS AN INTENTIONAL INDEPENDENT, AND DO IT WITH FERVOR AND A SELDOM SEEN PASSION FOR LIFE, LIBERTY AND HAPPINESS…for all the people! She includes in her reasons for running: “decent jobs, and “…a car in every garage that hasn’t been foreclosed on”, and “a chicken in every pot–or at least a few tasty chicken wings!” She gets fed, offered water and bathroom privileges as she walks the district. Rae finds the people here to be kind and involved and busy. She loves the chance to see the whole family gathered around plain food, and she listens, when she’s invited in for a while.
Rae did as it was insisted she do by a couple of local GOP delegates, she pledged not to run against a Republican in the primary, and she kept that pledge out of respect for her signature and her own word. She had 37% of the vote in 2006 and will need to keep that this time around and more. She was asked by many voters to run as an independent and help SD 50 with health care, education and encourage the people to participate in their government, which she is now doing–just as requested by the people.
“It feels right to step out to meet the people face to face and request their input on one actual thing they would like changed in 2011. The list is short and consistent–waste ranks right up there, though, up there with family, home, business and property protection rights.”
Rae is known to be fiscally and administratively thrifty, pinching pennies by hiring penny pinchers, saving printing costs, pointing out ‘with a grimace’ wasted time, wasted lives and wasted money. She states, ‘Get a handle on the time and money and lives that get wasted in MN and the economy will rise Phoenix like! First things first.’
In her own words Rae is ‘delighted to run as an independent’, and ‘she is in it to win it for the people of the district’. So many who meet her welcome her authentic approach.
The two other 2010 senate candidates are adept at politics. There is Gina with her flock in real green shirts, and Barb with her herd in lime green seen at the parades–all dressed in new shirts to conform and find each other in the crowd, perhaps.
Parades are fun–except for the thunder storms inserting themselves into two SD 50 parades. Incidentally, there are records of these multi termed candidates and their votes available to the people. “Check out their voting record for yourself,” Rae suggests, “Is that what you wanted them to vote for?”
Rae knows people and has served the people, all ages, in health, education and in business. Rae simply loves and admires the people where they are as they are, but cares too much to leave people in despair, right there where they are! We can make government smaller by helping people stand on their own two feet again, and getting people real jobs and off those small survival checks. Hello. There has been a major downturn in this economy. How we respond to this situation tells something about our own character and community.
“Bankruptcy, serious health events, foreclosures and joblessness are not going to remain forever…it’s about getting through this time and getting back on our feet–and being respectful toward those asking for temporary help when desperately needed. Why not respect and steady those who are trying to stand and need a hand?”
Health care deserves our attention, she states. “IF WE DON’T TAKE CARE OF OUR BODIES, WHERE WILL WE LIVE?” Privacy issues and choosing personal health care providers rank high on Rae’s list of health care’s needed fixes. Rae states, “I see people in their homes, in bed, in wheel chairs, without medication, with too much medication to think straight, with no transportation, without needed appointments, with needs that ARE NOT FRAUDULENT!
Anyone of us could need health care at a moment’s notice. The people who get sick need to have immediate care to prevent chronic disease, and they need help preventing future dire health events.
NO ILL PERSON I KNOW DELIBERATLY SETS OUT TO BE SICK AND DISABLED TO CHEAT THE GOVERNMENT. Losing health really cheats the person out of living a full life, and deprives them of life, liberty and certainly of happiness. We can help people recover their health if we reform aspects of health care delivery and make it accessible to all in a timely fashion with education inserted.
Yet, fraud happens. Those of us in health care services can usually tell if a person is really ill. But the paper brokers make mistakes and some are intentional. It is sad and wicked to waste health care dollars when so many of the people are in such great need. Some ‘fraudulent appearing’ long term care policies never get used due to the fine print. People who pay for this type policy need to check these out with the attorney general or a personal attorney. Only pay for what you can use in an honest way!
Chronic diseases are prevalent as well, like diabetes. If you don’t take care of diabetes people end up blind, with kidney disease, with circulation problems and with amputations. PREVENTION IS IMPERATIVE AND LESS COSTLY. What is our problem in MN health care that we don’t prevent the obvious next complication?
Everybody has body parts that work well. Besides treating what does not work, we must KEEP WHAT STILL WORKS WELL AND WORKING to prevent HIGHER HEALTH CARE COSTS DOWN THE PIKE, AND TO ENHANCE MOBILITY–don’t use it you lose it–that quote is not just for sport participants! If you don’t get out of your chair you will very soon not be able to get out of that chair. Throw the TV away, and move to a drumbeat you hear, even if it means walking around the table 15 times every three hours.
Living in THEIR OWN BODY is hard work for many. Despair doesn’t help the healing process. Let’s be a good, COMPASSIONATE and helpful neighbor, thankful that we still can help each other in this, ‘land of the free and the home of the brave.’
—————————————————————————
Now to the “DFL” side of the ‘partying’, Senator Chaudhary’s endorsement was pulled by his party. The party can do that, but perhaps this should have been left up to DFL voters to decide at the primary. However, Barb Goodwin, who is also a 50A, multi- term politician, had every right to run against an endorsed DFL candidate in the primary or to become the endorsed candidate herself. She, with deep thoughts, scampered out of retirement to save the “Senate District 50″ seat for Larry Pogemiller and friends.
Not so fast former House Rep, Goodwin, dressed in chartreuse. We the people will decide. You might get to spend January through March in a moderate climate, while Rae climbs through waist high snow to get to the Capitol, avidly defending the rights of the people and solving local issues issues.
Dayton and Entenza had the right to run against the DFL endorsed candidate, Kelliher, in the primary, and Dayton won. Senator Chaudhary was a little too early with his support of Dayton, and got chastised for not supporting the DFL endorsed Speaker, Margaret Kelliher–which of course Dayton and Entenza did not support all along with no apparent chastisement.
Now back to the future, today EVERY Democrat is told to support Mark Dayton. I wonder if our still current Senator Chaudhary (until elections) will support the newly endorsed DFL candidate for governor, once again. I bet the Senator will vote for Emmer…or Horner, or be unavailable to vote due to some other event, even for the Nov election. Not voting for our issues happened, truthfully happened too often, with this senator at the Capitol.
Politics does have a bad fragrance at times. The Party, which ever party, too often says when and who and what and where, also holding a short leash on it’s endorsed or winning candidates. That leash can get very uncomfortable, ask me!
But some candidates accept the power and the money the party may anoint the candidate with–and forget too quickly the power the Constitution vests in the people of Minnesota, and the people of the USA. WE MUST NOT FORGET THE PEOPLE, THE MANY ARE IN CHARGE OF THE FEW EMPLOYED IN GOVERNMENT. Well, it used to be fewer government employees, now we have many government employees who make it harder for free enterprise, farming, new businesses, etc. Over regulation and over criminalization happens when the foxes are watching the chicken coop…too many rules will of course increase our prison population. Prison is one government business that needs repair.
[Check out the MN Constitution on the Red Header on this site, and The U.S. Constitution as well--these are about the powers invested in 'we the people'...]
Some candidates cry, “My kingdom for a coin”! Some candidates are begging for funding rather than bolstering liberty. More independents are needed, along with some serious term limits! ###

More letters and values:
Rae Hart Anderson is making waves in my neighborhood. I met her for the first time at my own door. She is open about her views and listened to hear mine. She is honestly interested in the experiences of her ‘ future constituents’.
I would say Rae has a heart to hear alternatives, and she expects input and wants all of us to speak out and reach out.
I have noticed a growing desire among people in our area for some independent thinking from non-puppet-like ( if that’s a word) politicians who are willing to listen to us, and take our needs seriously.
With Rae’s innovative leadership skills and her experience in health care including home care, hospital care, nursing home, clinical care, case management, administrative leadership and health education we have a candidate very familiar with our health needs. She works comfortably with diverse groups and all ages.
Checking on line for our current senator’s votes, MN Votes reveals he missed 68 votes, while other senators had less than 9 misses. This can’t be good for our district. He lost opportunities to speak up for our cities and our schools and our health care. He missed voting on health care bills just by being absent.
Three cheers for Rae–a strong neighbor, who represents our values and respects our voices.

Hello, my name is Luke, I’m eight years old. I’m an American citizen and I gave a speech. I help work for a candidate for state senator. Her name is Rae Hart Anderson. I talk about her, and walked with her for about three hours on Saturday. It was work.
You should vote for Rae Hart Anderson for Minnesota State Senator. I like her. People like her. We have her sign and my neighbors wanted her signs so I carried more signs to them. I passed out five signs for her in my neighborhood.
I gave a speech telling about her at a prayer breakfast. She is trying to get health care for all of us, and keep the environment clean, and she wants to lower property taxes. She also thinks roads are first because we can use them right now. In forty years we’ll see if we have hydrogen cars, then I’ll be 48 years old and we might have train tracks all over by then, too.
My Dad and Mom are traditionally married, and they like Rae. We have a sister, Gloria. I help with my sister. Now, if you like personal safety and want to protect kids from predators, too, just vote for Rae.
I can’t vote for ten more years, but my oldest sister can vote. She goes to Bethel University and is going to be a nurse like my Mom. Nurses in my family are for Rae. Even my Dad says vote for Rae.
Sincerely,
- Luke, student

Senator Satveer Chaudhary Has Left the Closet: The Video
Senator Chaudhary’s “Don’t Ask, I’ll Tell” comment was especially out of line given the venue. The forum was held at school during school hours to get students involved in the political process and inform them of the issues of the contests. Judging from the student audience response to the senator’s smarmy comment any serious learning about the election and issues went right out the window via the closet.
It seems like the most important question of the forum was the one posed by Rae Anderson at the end of the video:
[from a bootson blog article, 2006]
“Do you believe him?”
Make sure you communicate your answer loud and clear to Senator Chaudhary on election day.
——————————————————————————–
FYI: August 10th Primary: Current Senator Satveer S. Chaudhary lost to Barb Goodwin, a former multi-term DFL House Rep. She recently held the seat now filled by DFLer, Carolyn Laine in House District 50A. House District 50B’s current House Rep is that smiling DFLer dressed in orange, Kate Knuth. She has an active opponent, GOP Candidate Russ Bertch. They are running in the eastern part of Senate District 50, in Ramsey County.
