Take heart. Stay strong.

New beginnings give new opportunities.

Rae Hart Anderson,  RN,  ARNP, Educator, Business owner and administrator, Health Care Provider-direct care.

Education–Bachelors degree:  University of MN in Public Address and Education;  the Humanities, Journalism

Graduate School:  University of MN, School of Public Health, Maternal Child Health emphasis, including health care  administration, biostatistics, statistics,  research, addictions, drugs, child development, community health project at Minneapolis under Margaret Hewitt, CNP,  family counseling, public health clinical trials, research “Parenting Children with Disabilities”  with 60 graduate credits in education and public health.   [FYI:  Ever tried to study with children also studying and playing and needing help settling disputes?  Many parents return to school and get to have this experience.  It's worth the effort, in my experience!]

I’ve been a single parent for over 15 years, I have four children, four grandchildren, and have parented several foster children and an exchange student.  I have a sense of humor…I do!

I’ve had help from many awesome people along the way, so I could provide for my family take care of others, as well.  I had the honor of caring for Mom, at home, for four years, avoiding nursing home care!  She left for her heavenly “home” just before her 90th birthday.  My brother and I were with her talking and listening to music at home, and we said the Lord’s Prayer and suddenly she was gone.  “Absent from the body, present with the LORD…” it is written.  Home seemed very empty without her presence.  Her eight grandchildren came from New York, California, Texas, Illinois and Minnesota to speak at her “life celebration” right here in our area, at North Heights Lutheran Church, and to honor her influence in their lives.  We recorded this event!  It brought smiles with tears and laughter and gave hope as we listened to the ‘next generation’, my brother’s and my children, speak out their gratitude to Grandma for loving and teaching them,  and of their faith in God and in their own future.  We, like you perhaps, take pictures and videos of births and weddings and sports and recitals–and funerals, too.   Life is full spectrum and ongoing.  Remembering is good!

I spent time helping my Mom care for her parents before that. It’s a generational thing!  Families can take care of each other right here in America. Home is where the heart is!

Statement of  gratitude:    “I have deep gratitude to God and our family, church members, friends and neighbors for being ready and caring– for helping during many difficult events like illnesses and funerals, you know how it is!  Gratitude continues for celebrating many happy events with us like sports events–so many with four kids [!]–piano recitals, graduations, weddings and confirmations–with more to come this year!   I’m remembering goodbyes,  tears and smiles and laughter and great outcomes, by God’s grace.  I am very thankful for  varied and intense life experiences, including the opportunity of being raised by  Christian parents, and grandparents who loved and prayed for me and my children.  I have continued passing on faith, family values and work ethics–with my parents love and  wisdom  to the next generation.  We have been blessed to become a blessing, I firmly believe!”

=================================================  Fourteen years is too long for one party to control a house and then a senate seat. Although Senator Chaudhary DFL is not running in the general election November 2, his colleague is running, former House Rep Barb Goodwin DFL. Taking turns and term limits are both good ideas for people and parties!   Do look at her voting record.  Was it good for you? WOULD YOU HAVE VOTED FOR THE ISSUES SHE CHOSE TO SUPPORT?  More about her voting record later.

Rae is ready with experience that counts right now, in health reform, business and education.  You have an opportunity to elect a senator that is right around the corner, not from the government but from the community.  She has been a bold advocate for citizen involvement, for family, for fewer regulations on business and in health and education, and an advocate for smaller government.

Conscience and our MN and U.S. Constitution should count when laws are made and subtracted.  We may need to NOT ONLY REMIND OUR LEADERS BUT ALSO LEAD THE WAY, respecting our history and believing in our future.  “If our foundations crumble, what will the righteous do…?”   We will step up to the plate to leave a secured heritage for our children as our parents did for us!

Consider if these ‘life experiences’ would be applicable at the Minnesota Capitol in St. Paul.  It’s time to let the grown ups lead at the Capitol.  Humility and service to the voters is what representation is all about.

Areas taught:  Science, biology–fetal pig dissection; Physical Education–floor hockey, basketball; Health education;  English–writing and grammar, Social Studies–history and government; Special Education classes for students with special needs; Math; FACTS [home economics], music, Spanish, Academic specials classes.  Teaching children is challenging and rewarding and very difficult at times due to a general move toward less personal discipline. Managing a classroom of 25 to 30 active students is not for wimps…and the expected outcome is “an education”.  I believe we need more vocational education classes for high school students BECAUSE students like to learn how to actually do something that can bring them ‘wages’ and perhaps help pay for further education.

Adult education teacher in parenting and giving birth, stopping addictions, weight loss, medication evaluation with assessments and patient care, review of personal medical records for drug interactions and healthy outcomes.

Clinic Administrator and business owner. Case Manager for patient plans. Setting up a new clinic for Native American community with occupational health referrals, labs, health and wellness classes and direct care for new parents and elderly and emergency visits.

Homeless Shelter Nurse Practitioner:  Runaway teens assessed. Counseling and going through deliveries with pregnant teens–they did well with support and kindness.  Health care and oversight in connection with the MN Dept of Health to prevent contagious events within the facility.

Case manager: Workman’s Comp and in Urgent Emergent Care.  Helping physicians get the care their patients needed by working with insurance companies to get coverage, and to follow up the patient to assess the outcomes.  I worked to have the physician and the patient stay in charge and we avoided conflict, in almost all cases, with insurance companies.

Foster  parent of teens who were single and pregnant and who gave birth and adopted their babies. Foster parent for children whose parents were addicted to substances.

Meshbesher and Spence:  Pre-trial translating medical language, interpreting medical records and computerizing these records in preparation for a “class action” suit against Dalkon Shield.  [Thankfully this law suit was won for the people who were injured and for both Moms and babies who lost their lives due to these dangerous I.U.D.s] Intra Uterine Devices were found in many places in side the bodies of both the mother who got pregnant using the I.U.D. and in side the baby. There is a time for legal protection of those people injured or killed by highly marketed devices. Any attempt at ‘torte reform’ must not exclude assigning ‘responsibility and blame’ appropriately for actual injury and death.
